Yikes! I was supposed to blog two days ago...

I have been pretty busy enjoying my winter break.
Any time I spend online has been dealing with my So Pink move.
All the members have been handling it like champs, except for one.

The break has been great so far. Catching up with my friends and family.
My little brother has been getting on my nerves, but that's typical.

Well, remember when I said I wasn't taking anyone I dated seriously?
I dropped that fast, and now have a new boyfriend.
Hopefully, I'm not still on the rebound, lol.

Well, I have some accounts to transfer, and we're going to see the lights later.

Yes, the goldfish in my header is dead. The fish-someone-forgot-to-feed symbolizes my previously neglected blog.

I am surviving Finals Week, and flying home this weekend. I can't wait to get out of this town. Most people are gasping for a break, but I've been slacking this semester as usual so...

Internet Explorer 6.0 and earlier do not properly display transparency with .PNG files. There have been fixes developed to remedy this. I found out my .PNG fix was causing all the .PNG files to disappear in Opera. It sucks that no one told me.

I was surprised at the number of people who hadn't heard of the White House crashers. I wrote about it because it interests me. But, figured it would be a rather tired subject. I even expected a few not this again's, lol.

Is my comment message box too small?

Does anyone else have trouble commenting on Fanupdate blogs with captcha?
Like your comment never seems to send? Or you don't get any indication that it sent?

w00t! I'm blogging a day early.

It seems like way too many people have the name Olivia now. When I first started blogging, I was the only Olivia that I knew of. It's rather annoying to comment on a blog entry, and see 2 or 3 other people with your name. I guess I'll have to start adding my last name as well.   

In related news, I notice a lot people having conversations via blog comments. I guess some people just want a ton of comments. Even if they are just completely unrelated statements or questions from the same 5 people.

So, what do you think about these White House crashers?
It's clear the incident wouldn't have happened if Michaele Salahi wasn't a skinny White blond. It appears they're claiming to be invited; despite not being on the guest list, not having a table setting, their limo being turned away at the gates, and all the other evidence that suggests they crashed the party. I don't think they did any harm, but it's just so darn embarrassing. I hope they get some sort of slap on the wrist.

Wow, time to blog again already. These days counting down to finals are really been flying by.

Titles are rather hard to come up with. For those less prone to rap, this "title" is a line from Ice Cream Paint Job by Dorrough Music.

Ever met an insanely gorgeous man... Got asked for your number... And scared him off with a stupid text? Really? Well, that's me right now.

Ever listen to a song 15316753 times... Looked up the lyrics... Realized some of the words are different than you thought... And liked your "version" better? Really? Well, that's me right now.

I briefly touched on my ex-boyfriend in my 11/11/09 blog. It's crazy, after awhile you forget you're being controlled. Being "free", I take pleasure in so many little things. One of my friends carelessly asserted I should just be grateful there was no abuse. I'm not sure I'd like to continue a relationship with someone who minimizes my past grievances. Would you?

Did you know 'minimalize' isn't a word?

My statistics for this website are so awful. I really need to get it back to where it was. 100 unique visitors a day just won't do; won't do at all.

I was looking on the Yahoo! front page for an interesting topic. I saw 'Underwater' housing markets, and thought: Finally! We get to buy housing in the ocean! This is going to be so cool! It was an article about mortgages that leave people owing more than their property is worth.

When I was active, I would wonder how people could leave their blog for weeks or months. But now I get it, lol. Things just... come up.

I changed my layout (after 10 months). It's simple, but there are credits. I'm not really in love with it, but it works for now.

I ditched the Links page. I don't want to have to do the adding, checking to see if mine is there, removing, etc... No harm done if you remove (or have removed) me.

So... I am in my last year of college now. I quit my job, because they moved me from the finance department to customer service (not cool). I can't wait to be done with this school. I will be getting my masters degree directly afterward; at a different school in a different region. I, finally, broke up with my controlling ex-boyfriend in September. I date around, but don't take any of them seriously.

I can NOT stand when people ask if they can ask a question or just say i have a question, then pause. It's just stupid, and makes me want to chop them in the throat. What little things really get on your nerves?

Also, I have an icon contest going on at So Pink. It really needs entries, so please join! You could win $26 or 3 domains.

Yesterday, Michael Jackson died.

I was at my parents' house;
My dad called from work to tell me about it.
I said "Wow, that's so sad",
And went back to working on my current project.
However, my mom came home upset,
And the rest of my evening plunged into the tragedy.

Most of the publicity has been reverent.
Celebrating his life and mourning is his death.
Recounting his many achievements and contributions to the world.
He was truly original; truly talented; truly beloved.

However, there are disgusting individuals that feed off the misery and faults of celebrities. Even just hours after they've passed away. Some do it for free, and others do it for monetary gain. I don't know which is more disturbing.

Being anti-news, the only Michael Jackson information I had to go on were pathetic comedians and depraved animation.

Among other things,
I learned Michael Jackson provided DNA samples in the child molestation trial. And proved his case so well the buzzards couldn't even file a civil suit. Previous allegations ended in settlement because lawyer fees would have exceeded the settlement (as they did in the case that went to trial).

Michael Jackson the star. Michael Jackson the icon. Michael Jackson the joke. No one seems to acknowledge him as a person; a human being.
I just hope he is somewhere at peace; happy.

Okay, I pick tattoos. They don't bother me. Mark up your skin any way you like.

I don't watch the news.

how about the amount of job's lost in the US or reality television
I don't watch much reality television anymore. I have heard of people losing their jobs. But, I don't know anyone that actually has. Apparently the number of long-term unemployed is 2.9 million as of this February; which makes me very grateful to have my sucky job.

Yes, I do... I really, really do.

People do different things in college... What do I do? I go to class and occasionally do homework. I used to hit up the parties/clubs, but I got tired of that fast. Organizations are out as I want to decrease (not increase) my obligations. I wouldn't say college is boring. I just think most people are over formal education after being subjected to it for 14 to 15 years straight.

Hobbs is gone

3 hours ago...
I put Hobbs in his carrier, rode to the humane society, signed a release, and left him there.

At the shelter,
I mechanically detailed the damage he had done to my home,
Presented by scratched and bitten body for inspection,
And neatly signed my signature.

When I got home,
I cried and called my dad (mom didn't pick up the phone).
He made me feel a lot better, but I still cry sporadically.

I just feel so guilty and sad,
I got him May 23, 2008 when he was 2 months old.
He has always been a problem child,
But I thought he would straighten out.

The past 10 months have been up, down, up, down.
This last "down" has cost me almost $500.
And I just couldn't take anymore from a cat that doesn't allow holding/touching for more than 60 seconds.

I take a little solace in the fact that it's a no-kill shelter,
And was actually over-crowded with people looking for animals to adopt.

I hate making my blog entries too long.
So, I will blog about my other daunting experience tomorrow.

Don't Trust GoDaddy!

Like the title says... Don't trust GoDaddy!

As many know, I have been increasing interested in addicted to purchasing pre-owned domains.

Yesterday, I decided to give GoDaddy Auctions a try.
I paid their $4.99/year fee, and found a $10 domain to bid on.
Before I made the bid, I looked up the Whois for the domain.
Note the expiration date is 02/04/2010.

I won the auction (only bidder).
At checkout, an extra $10.89 was required to renew the expired domain. That's right... expired!

Nowhere was I notified that the domain had expired.
Buying an expired domain means (1) you have to pay to renew it, and (2) the original owner can take it back up to 42 days after it expired.

I called their support, who basically told me Too Bad.
And I have just contacted email support.
However, I do not expect a much better response.
Email support was actually worse.

I am transferring all my domains at GoDaddy to somewhere else.
And won't give GoDaddy, or should I say NoDaddy, another cent.

This lesson cost me $25.88, but I'm giving it to you for free.

We all have things that annoy us on the personal or goodie website scene. Here are a few of mine...

1. Music.
Please just take it away! One minute, I'm happily listening to my iTunes. The next, I'm blasted with an insidious cacophony. I know you think Katy Perry and Rihanna are talented. But, I don't! Think of my ears! My ears!

2. Resource websites with premade layouts.
I mean c'mon... You want me to use your content when you're not even using your content? Doesn't make sense.

3. Hypocritical blog entries.
The most annoying are ones where the author gripes about how much they hate other bloggers who gripe.

4. My Eyes Only: Links to private accounts
There is no reason for a link to your cPanel or WordPress to be on your website. What are you doing?!

5. Automatic Pop-ups, No-Right-Click, and Cursor Removal
(a) You know, the pop-ups that appear when you simply view the page. And won't go away until you click "OK". (b) Listen, disabling the ability to right-click will not keep your work safe. Anyone can view source, copy, and paste. I heart new tabs (c) Why?! There is no point in taking away my ability to see my cursor.
Sign this petition to stop the blatant abuse of javascript!

Oh no...

I am making a new layout for this website after I type this.

I am already feeling tired of it.
Probably because I look at it so much.

I'm going back to using my real last name.

I fly back to my college town on Sunday.

I stopped reading, watching, and listening to the news
For so long, I forgot why I did.
Now I remember.

I'm... distraught.

Our support of a horrid regime has planted a dreadful seed.
If you don't know why the Israeli government is horrid,
Google things like Israel is evil or Israel massacres.

I have always been a nationalist.
And have defended America against citizens and foreigners.

As disturbing facts filtered into my little world.
I cast them off; onto an old man named Bush.

Ecstasy was mine when Barack Obama was elected president.
Although I quickly spouted All politicians are just liars to others,
Deep down I believed him.
I believed in change.
I believed in "Yes, we can".

I don't believe anymore.

But, where can anyone turn?

The news in every country is filled with awful things.
Humans continually finding ways to cause harm.
Harm to the Earth, the animals, themselves, and each other.

I miss my little world.
My 25-mile radius world.

Ignorance is bliss.

The Story:
I bought some sneakers from Finishline.com on Dec. 14th with my credit card.
They put the $239.87 hold on my bank account.
At 6:23 AM...
They call asking for the phone number I gave my bank 2 years ago.
Not in the We want your business, and this is a formality voice
Or the English is my second language, but God I'm trying voice.
But in the Inarticulate hood cop interrogating a suspect voice.
I am, obviously, very irritated.
And I don't mind letting this rent-a-cop know.
I won't go into the back-and-forth that ensued.
In the end, I got a supervisor (or someone who said he was) to cancel my order.
Then, I called the toll-free number back to make sure it was actually canceled (it was).

The Conclusion:
I will never buy anything from Finishline stores or their website again.
There are too many other options to deal with poor service.
I will buy my overpriced crap elsewhere, thank you.

I am going back to bed.

I'm still very busy, but I feel good.

I am putting my 2 weeks notice in this Friday.
My job, and the people I work with, have gotten way out of hand.

I am now in weekly allowance negotiations with my parents.

Hobbs is getting so big.
I remember when he was just a tiny thing *sigh*
He is obsessed with sticking his paw in water.
This includes the toilet, his water bowl, cups, the sink... Argh!

My little brother's birthday is coming up (turning 14),
I really want to buy him a cell phone, but the parental units have forbid it.

I hope you're well. I am still very, very busy.
But, I wanted to take the time to blog.

Am I crazy?
I guess I thought managing college, work, free hosting, and 3 other websites wasn't enough. I decided to start a hosting company. Some of you already know what it is, but others will just have to wonder   

Onoz...
My roommate got a pitbull.
He named him "Playa".
But, I call him "Butters", because he is a really light tan.
The dog doesn't like my cat, Hobbs (who turned 7 months today).
So, we had to move all Hobbs' stuff to the spare room.

Time to move.
Hobbs isn't happy being restricted to his room, and our bedroom.
And I am not happy with the smell of Butters.
So, me and my boyfriend are going to be moving soon.

Animal neglect.
I feel extremely bad for the pitbull.
We don't have a yard.
My roommate keeps him in this little cage in the living room.
The only time Butters is let out of the cage is to eat, drink, or be walked.
And, of course, I let him out the cage when I'm home.

The dude doesn't even care about the dog.
He never plays with him. And he only feeds/walks him when the dog starts barking and whimpering. Now, Butters is limping. Well, hopping. He won't put pressure on his back leg, and starts whimpering if you touch it.
My boyfriend thinks it's from being cramped in that cage. But, who knows?
Butters needs to see a vet. And if my roommate doesn't make that happen soon, the Humane Society's phone will be ringing :|

Okay so,
The lovely Mimi (she's awesome) got me thinking about the following subject.
Feel free to express conflicting opinions.
I am not trying to control the world... yet.

Many believe public nudity, or scarcity of clothing, is wrong/degrading. It's not.

Everyone is born naked. It is humans natural way of being. In an age that spouts "Go green" every 10 minutes, that has to count for something.

Looking at Christianity,
Adam and Eve only became ashamed of their nudity after they disobeyed God. In their pure form, they felt no shame in the absence of clothing.

Our society has shaped a world where clothing is necessary; where one should feel ashamed without it. This idea is re-enforced in many homes, schools, and neighborhoods.

In fear, we scrabble to cover ourselves.
1. Fear people won't respect you.
2. Fear your family will disapprove.
3. Fear the opposite sex will harass you
4. Fear of the weather
5. Fear of being arrested
6. Fear your body doesn't look good enough
7. Fear that showing your body will decrease its worth
The list continues...

Hold tight to your fear, if you wish. I know I do (2, 4, and 5).

However,
It is reason that truly drives the stake to hell or heaven.
Some people become priests to molest children. That does not mean being a priest is wrong. Some people kill to protect their country. That does not mean killing is right. It all depends on the reason. Do you really know that scantily-clad MySpacer's reason?

I am dealing with massive internal conflict. I need to decide whether to go home, or stay where I am currently gong to college. There are so many factors, pros, cons... Ugh! My head is going to implode.

My revamps are finally done... I think. I keep remixing the hell out of the same layouts, lol. I just need to upload photos of myself. This should happen before my next blog post, or at that same time.

NoSrsly.info
My new project has launched! It is website help offered by yours truly.
The poor quality of so many websites is really irking me. Especially, when those same websites are passing on invalid information to others. This annoyance led me to my domain registrar. There, I decided between four names: omg-no, wtf-is-this, pls-stop, and no-srsly. I chose no-srsly, but opted out of the hyphen.

I began working on nosrsly.info. Feverishly detailing the 'why would you do that', 'this doesn't even make sense', and 'leave that back in 1993'. After releasing all that negativity, I felt much less annoyed. So, I decided to be a benefactor rather than a bxtch. This left a two-part problem (1)What content to put up and (2)Will it be useful to others. My resolution to said problem is a custom Q&A system.

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

The hosting is coming along fine. I recently introduced a third-party file manager. That was a little rocky, but we're back on track now. We also have a members-only giveaway running.

One of my hosted (a 13 year old) had to give up her subdomain. Her parents found out about it, and demanded its immediate closure. But, she is still allowed to be on MySpace. *slaps forehead*

Revamp... again

The applications for So Pink are really pouring in.
So, I have to let my minimalism go for something more content-friendly. I need to add tutorials, information, a member list, links, eck... I didn't think it would grow so fast, eck. Eh, no. I'm too busy for all that. I'm not trying to be the next freewebs.com

Um, I am also going to give this website a face-lift...
I just am not good at making websites that allow for lots of information. I see that text all over the place, and want to scream :| Done, it's not that different. But, I made a new graphic, and rounded my corners.

Gosh, Shellz was right. Blog titles are hard to come up with.   

But yeah,
I was sick of the pop-up things. Perhaps because I them on my hosting site for so long. So I remixed both websites' layout. I was going to round the corners, but decided it wasn't worth the trouble.

Hobbs is growing so fast, and he is not phased by the toilet incident at all. I have to shoo him off the seat all the time. He now loves the leap-and-dig-claws-in game. I am hoping that will pass soon :|

Revamp, Life

So Pink
I have learned a lot from owning a free hosting website. Especially about how much bandwidth, and disk space one really needs. I have 29 hostees, and 7 of my domains, on one package. We're only using 160 MB of disk space and 3 GB of bandwidth.

Domain Giveaway
I have to decided to give "rawrpink.org" to one of my hosted. I'm not sure which one yet. No one seems to want "itsolivia.net"   . I may have another domain up for grabs, but only if Cory doesn't want it.

Revamp
This is my new layout. It relies heavily on javascript. Some may have to refresh to see the true end-product. I appreciate all feedback, good and bad.

Webcam, Hobbs

I am revamping 3 of my websites.

My Free Web Hosting website is doing fairly well. I would love to have more hosted though   

You may, or may not, have noticed the removal of my "Webcam" section.
Some people just can't handle pictures of large (clothed) breasts. I plan to replace it with a Photo section in the next revamp.

Hobbs (my 3 month old kitten) fell into the toilet today.
I was scared at first. He's still quite tiny, and had already been sneezing. But, now that I see he's fine, it's hilarious.

Good Girls.
While reading the comments on my previous blog (See Archives); I noticed a number of females stating that "they were too young to think about children" or "didn't plan to have children anytime soon". I thought this was really sweet.

I'd also like to commend all those who have progressed a grade or graduated!

Hosting, Adoption

I finally have a use for so-pink.org. I'm going to use it for free hosting. So if you, or someone you know, wants it. Join us.

Hobbs is still wrecking havoc. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't think my laptop was a cat toy.

I'm sick of my job. Eck! But, I'm sticking around since I just got transferred to the Finance department.

As of now, I plan to adopt my children. I just can't see myself voluntarily having my vagina split in half (if I accidentally get pregnant, I will definitely have the baby). I used to worry about whether our bond would be as strong as that of a biological parent/child. But, there are biological parents that don't even care about their children (and vice versa). Plus, I would get to know exactly how my baby looks, if it has any diseases, etc...

Would you rather adopt or give birth?

Birthday, Hobbs

Hey, remember me? I hope so, lol.

I kissed my teen years goodbye.
My birthday was last Thursday. I am now 20 years old. I'm still down here in my college town. So, I only had friends with which to celebrate. We had an awesome time doing... some stuff   
I got a pretty nice haul this year. These are my favorites:


Meet Hobbs.
My 10 week old kitten I adopted from the local Humane Society. He had already been given back to the shelter twice. However, I didn't heed that fair warning. The first few nights were hell. Seriously. But, he's a lot better now. I'm glad I didn't give up on him. He's a tabby like my cat at "home".

I will probably be using the alias Olivia Kitty for awhile. Why? Because I bought yet another domain, oliviakitty.com. It was before I saw your advice Jane, lol. Don't worry about changing links, it just re-directs to its-olivia.com

V10, Tidbit, Ideas

My site was down, and I received no explanation or apology. I have bought new hosting, set it up, and resolved my DNS servers. O2g.net is still freakin' down.

Revamp, Hosting

Well, my cheap host finally disappointed me.

It's not that my website was down.
They warned us, well in advance, that a server move may cause downtime.

It's not that I lost my latest blog post.
They told us to back-up our stuff, and I didn't feel like it.

It's the "This Account Has Been Suspended" notice.
They plastered it on all their hostees' websites. While their main website was still conveniently up, and open for sign-ups. Making it look like your customers don't pay their bill to cover up for your downtime? Shame, shame...

Work, Banking

A co-worker chewed me out the other day.
I was slacking off a bit. So, the 35 year old man (with the same position I have) decided to give a speech. Apparently, I'm lazy and need to be more grateful. During the long-winded ordeal, I pasted a serious expression on my face. Afterwards, I politely replied, "I'm glad this is just my first job. It would be pathetic if I worked here at 35. Don't you agree?". Now he's launching a solo crusade against yours truly. Fun, right?

Crafty swine.
I never spend more money than I have. Or so I thought. My bank cleverly removed certain charges from the pending list without posting them to my account. So today, I found my account was drastically overdrawn. In addition to the item charges, I suffered major overdraft fees. *sighs* Hooray for the parental units.

New web host, Tagged

I dropped ehostpros early (my plan expires in June). I would NOT recommend that host to anyone. All their support is out-sourced, and you can tell. Plus, they deleted all my emails. I also realize I don't need a VDS.

I'm with o2g.net now. I'm pretty apprehensive because of the price ($20 a year). I decided to just try it, before paying someone more for the same or less. All my files are backed up on my computer. I've been pleasantly surprised so far. They responded to one of my support tickets in like 20 minutes.

Email, Movies, Friends

Technology.
I REALLY want an iPod Touch. But, I have no interest in other Apple goodies. I plan to get a Virtual Dedicated Server. So, I can host all my domains in one place. My anti-spam thing totally works! Feels so good to be spam free.

Media.
I've been listening to a lot of Britney Spears (old and new). I don't know why. I want to see The Ruins. The Curse of Alcatraz is possibly the worst movie ever. Don't rent it! The music, and general production sucked. The acting was horrible. A crack-head monkey could have done a better job. Probably would have been more amusing too.

Friendship.
I'm the type of friend that will stick by you no matter what. My loyalty has pushed me to do the wrong thing sometimes. But, I can't see myself turning my back on a friend.

Blah, Blah, Blah

My spam has gotten out of freakin' hand.
I'm certainly not about to add a CAPTCHA (I despise those), and automated-word-generator-things make the words too long. Some even make you type two words.
So, I just added another required field to my comment form. You have to type the word love. Hopefully this will work.

I adore Amazon.com.
It's the only place I'll buy things off the Internet. I just dropped half a stack there. But, it was spent on many items. Where else can you find $3 knee socks, $5 arm socks, and $50 Ed Hardy shoes?! Not where I live...

Life or whatever.
I started birth control pills. My only side effect has been mild stomach pain (thank God). I've (successfully?) managed to juggle school and work by giving the bare minimum to both. I plan to get a kitten from the animal shelter soon.

New Layout, News

My (not quite) Perfect Fantasy.
I'm very busy with school, work, and play. So, I tossed the March theme for a more general spring theme. I began with a header image, content box, and side bar in mind. But, couldn't stick with that common, yet convenient, set-up. Instead, I made a strange layout, which does not expand/contract with my content. So, I also have pop-ups.
As always,
I'd love to hear your feedback on the new layout.

I decided to leave all the comment exchange sites I joined. Just got tired of being forced to comment on blog posts I have no interest in.

I don't have my new laptop yet.
I, dimly, decided to go to Wet Seal (God, I love that store) first. So, my funds were quite low by the time I walked out of there. Hopefully, I'll be able to get the laptop tomorrow (parents reimburse me today).

Checking in...

Hey! As some of you have noticed, I have not been very active since my last blog post.

My laptop broke last Friday.
I'd rather get a new one than fix it (had it for over a year). Unfortunately, my parents won't have the money for the new one until this Monday.

Also, I've taken on a job with a local Internet company.
I'm working 34 hours a week. In addition to going to college full time. I kind of feel like this was a mistake. I'm so sleepy. But, my permanent schedule isn't set yet (still just in training).

I t took the job because I've never had a formal place of employment.
Which, at 19, is not a good look. So, I'm going to try to hang in there. But, if it starts interfering with my academic performance... I quit, lol.

I have managed to work on my March layout.
It's gone in a completely new direction than I intended. But, I'm going to take what I can get. My friend's computer (which I have more or less commandeered) doesn't have the proper applications.

I hope you all enjoy it when it does launch.
I felt a bit of pressure from the comments. Seems like there are some high standards for me; in terms of web development.

Coming soon, Superstitions

I'm working on my March layout.
Hopefully, it will be done this Sunday (March 1st). I'm thinking various greens and white. All the people in my Entourage will be added to a side or bottom bar. Along with the stuff on the Support page. I also plan to add a site map (again).

A lot of people think themed layouts are lame.
Nevertheless, I like them. Hearts for February, clovers for March, raindrops for April. What's not to love, huh?

A lot of my older family members are very superstitious.
You shouldn't buy eggs at night, wear too many buttons, break mirrors, spill salt, etc... Or if someone sneezes 3 times in a row, you have to give him/her a dollar to avoid 3 years of bad luck, lol.

I wouldn't call myself superstitious.
However, I find myself knocking on wood and wishing people luck. As well as refraining from opening umbrellas indoors and splitting poles.

The paparazzi are clearly out of hand.
Taking pictures and recording video without consent; peering in homes; badgering with personal questions; constantly following at a 1.5 inch distance... All this would easily build a law suit, or even restraining order, for an ordinary person. But, celebrities are rarely compensated for damage done by the media.

The reason these people get away with blatant harassment is unclear. However, their motive for doing so is quite obvious; money. The public is buying the magazines, watching the shows, and visiting the websites. Making celebrity-probing a lucrative endeavor.

People are alarmed by the government's "nerve" to monitor our Internet activities, or tap phone lines. Yet, a middle-aged photographer can examine Lindsay Lohan's trash, stalk Britney Spears in a grocery store, and spy through Brad Pitt's window. All without the average person raising an eyebrow.

Celebrities are kept on display long after their show is over.
The caption, outside their cage, often falsified to be more interesting.
A crowd fighting to snap a picture, record a video, or get a relationship update at every turn.


Should a celebrity be forced into the public eye?

I felt very special today. Lots of smashing messages, among the annoying chain/group ones. My mom said I was her first true love (lmao).

My best gift was a trip to Build-A-Bear Workshop.
I got to pick out my bear, watch it get stuffed and sewn up, and choose clothes and accessories. Plus, he put a little heart in it, and recorded a message that plays when I press the bear paw.

I got my valentine a box of X-Men valentines (the ones kids take to pass out in class), and chocolate fish that said "You're a keeper" on the box (lol)

Cold, Revamp, Random

I'm over my cold. SO freakin' happy about that   
A few people misunderstood the tonsils statement.
I had them removed as a child, because their huge size stopped me from breathing. But, tonsils block a lot of crap from getting in your system so   

The revamp isn't really worth talking about.
It's one of those i-just-can't-look-at-my-old-layout-another-day layouts.

Bleh, there's lots to blog about.
But, I know there's only one opinion I care to see; mine lol

Thanks for all the sympathy, and suggestions, in my last post.
Sorry, I haven't posted/commented/visited in awhile.
(it's really only been 8 days, but it feels like a long time to me)
I've had some very stressful "real life" things to deal with.
Oh no, I ended a sentence with a preposition. (lol, such a nerd)
Also, I have a killer cold; lack of tonsils makes me very susceptible to airborne illnesses
Well, I'm debating a January revamp.
Since I'm going to want a Valentine's Day revamp in February.

Anything "new" about this year yet?
I've had several realizations, but this cold is clogging my brain meats.
So I can't put them into words right now.

This morning,
I awoke to find all my email accounts wiped squeaky clean.
My host (ehostpros) had graciously thanked me for my 19 months of business; by deleting every single email message off their server.

To show their sympathy, they sent this heart-felt message:
We have a backup of your domain upto dec 24th and we see that there are no data in your email account on backups also. Thanks for your cooperation. Sorry we do not help you in this.

Taking care of your own

When Mother Theresa received her Nobel Prize,
She was asked, What can we do to promote world peace?
She replied, "Go home and love your family."

All too often we ignore our very own to help foreign strangers.

I'm not talking about those celebrities who utilize the lets-save-Africa publicity stunt.

I mean people who truly believe one should travel overseas to do "good"; when there are starving children in their own downtown area.
Or pass a homeless man on their way to work each day.

Those who fight for an increase in foreign aid.
But, oppose tax raises that will put textbooks in local schools.

It seems like Christmas is the only time we acknowledge the poor, hungry, and homeless in our own country.

There are some programs, organizations, and people trying all year
(real charities; not those selling things they get for free).
But, it takes the majority to make major change.

Put your family first. Then, if you find yourself with excess time/money,
Give to your community.

Right to do wrong

- Is there any justification for doing wrong?

I don't mean little things,
Like lying about a surprise party.
Or stealing your brother's Halloween candy.

I mean consistently shady action,
Drug dealing, fraud, robbery, murder.
Or in the legal realm: cheating, lying, spreading rumors.

I've heard countless excuses...
It's just until I find a real job
They did it to me first
I was raised this way
They don't need this as much as I do
Blah, blah, blah

The only instances where you should do wrong, is to save a life.
Not saying I never have moral malfunctions. But, I'm not base enough to feel in the "right" for doing those things; that shalt not be named.

I write rather nasty replies to all the email scams I get.
But, this is the first time one of the degenerates responded.
Which is what triggered this topic.

Alterations, M and J, Worldly

Frequent visitors,
You may have noticed the various alterations I made to the site.
It's funny, I did all that to only keep four extremely small modifications of the original revamp. *slaps forehead*

Phone situation,
What I did next was tell J. M called later to apologize, and give his excuses (upset, joking, not thinking, etc...). I'm still friends with him, but things are different. I really don't like the new side I saw.

Sadness is just a state of mind.
I saw that here, and it comforted me.

What's your take on life?

Human life seems so small, and silly.
You could take over the entire Earth, and control a tiny speck.
The universe is incredibly huge, and increasing all the time.
We're in the universe. But, what is the universe in?
A big box? And what is that box in?
Seems impossible to figure out. But, I feel like the answer is there.
Right there waiting for someone to notice it.

Upgrading, Proxies, Racial jokes

My Error log is being flooded with "client denied by server configuration".
I have managed to pinpoint the culprits; Internet Explorer 6.0 users :|
You need to update your browsers, okay? There's a new version for a reason; and the process is quick, easy, and relatively painless.
*cough* Internet Explorer is lame anyway.

For those who remember,
My host stopped blocking my IP address. I'm still using proxies though.
It's a bit safer than sharing your IP/ISP/location with every single website.
I found some very fast ones at proxy-list.org.

Just interested in outside opinions. Action already taken.
A bit of background I met "J" (Chinese) just two months ago. I swear we haven't been apart since; she's behind me right now, watching tv.
She's basically my soulmate, and I love her to death.
I've known "M" (Black) since the 8th grade. We've been fairly good friends.
Hanging out every so often; and always "being there" for each other.

This Sunday, M called me to hang out. However, I already had plans with J. After telling M that, he pretty much shocked the hell out of me. The details are unnecessary. Basically, several derogatory words/stereotypes were used in reference to J. When he finally noticed my startled silence.
He let me know "It's okay to laugh, we're both Black". I hung up the phone.

What do you think I should have done next?

Winter Revamp, Rxpture, Updates

I'm not in love with my winter revamp, but I'll probably end up launching it anyway. The problem is the background image...

There were a lot of good names. However, many of you forgot name was just the domain suffix, i.e. com; which resulted in submissions that didn't quite make sense.

I do not EVER plan on buying a .name domain.

Evidently, hyphens should be avoided. So I may grab itsolivia.net while it's still available (.com isn't).

I made arrangements to spend Thanksgiving with family in another state. My plane leaves today, but I'm here typing this. Changed my mind last minute. Yes, I'm a jerk, and feel slightly guilty.

I am a quitter.
I've quit relationships, taekwondo, dance, caring about school, going to church, graphic design, various clubs, running... Sadly, the list continues.

Celebrities' Wives and Prenuptials

Recently,
My friend forced me to watch an episode of Gotti's Way. Basically, Irv Gotti's (ex?)wife was complaining about him being with other women. And I feel like she should shut the fxck up.

I don't feel any sympathy for celebrities' wives.
Cheating is, obviously, wrong. But, the women are playing the game just like the men are. Marrying a celebrity isn't a card you're simply dealt. It's a card you've fought tooth and nail to get, and keep in your hand.
Marry; Gain connections; Produce children for leverage; Divorce with a huge settlement; Use ex-husband's fame for publicity and perks.
Men find celebrity women, and do this as well. But let's face it, women are more often the leech.
Heck, sometimes they don't even marry. Just get pregnant, blood test, court order.

I'm definitely getting a protective prenuptial agreement.
It may seem rather hypocritical to plan for a divorce with someone you're promising to spend the rest of your life with. But hey, people change, and people can be fake.
I'm promising to stay with the man I think you are. Not the man you become after I'm "trapped".

There's also a clear double standard.
Women can do much more than men, and be considered heterosexual.
If a guy even calls another man "cute", his sexuality is in question.

I installed the newest version (2.0.0.9), and now I can not visit ANY websites with it. I get the lovely error "AUS: Connection Refused".
So now I'm back to using Opera (Internet Explorer is just too slow).

It's darker than I'm used to, but I like it. I always end up with something completely different than my initial vision. It's weird.
You may notice a 3 in each page name. Don't question it!
Took me forever, but I believe this version works in all browsers. Why isn't there just one simple browser?!
Tried to go XHTML 1.0 Strict. However, I can't give up "target='_blank'".
I found out, too late, you can achieve the same effect with JavaScript.
No more tables   
Only divs, and these things don't smoothly adjust like tables. As a result, you have to comment and view comments/archive/search in a pop-up (bleh). Not having tables sucks. I'll probably use them in my next version (sorry techies).

Anyway,
I get angry/annoyed very easily. I know this, still I often express myself before cooling down. I blow up, say some things, maybe do some things. Then it's over. However, this particular friend is playing hard to get... back.
Ideas?

I'm working on a new website layout and photo/video/cam stuff. As well as trying to get ready for Monday. Gawd! It's so hard to choose a style...

I am so sick of school. Not my classes, not my teachers, not my university. Just institutional education period.
I told my mom, and she said "You have no other options." Then she put my dad on the phone, and he said the same thing.

Last night,
I was alone at this guy's house (we're dating, he was at work). And, I got bored so I decide to get on the computer. He left his MySpace up, and I found out some things I wasn't supposed to. Basically, he just ended a so-in-love-2-year relationship in September; and still contacts her regularly.
He's like: I was going to tell you when I was ready, and you shouldn't have invaded my privacy. Let me explain.
I'm like: There's nothing to explain, stop calling me. I didn't intend to snoop. You shouldn't have been deceitful.
What say you?

Usually, I mind my own business. What you do is what you do.
However, it really irks me when parents blame others for their offspring's poor actions.
If it weren't for that: gang, friend, teacher, rapper, television, video game, drug, guy, etc...
What about you?! What about your seed?! What kind of parent were you that your kid respects, and listens to a stranger more than you?!
Not saying those things aren't bad, or influential. But, that's life. People reach that crossroad of right and wrong everyday.
Teach your child what path to walk, or someone else will. And realize the final decision lies with your son/daughter.

I realize my posts have been rather impersonal for a personal website. However, all my contact info is on the site. I figure if someone wants to know how my general life, week, or day is they'll hit me up.

I had a First Creation conversation the other day. Not choosing any religious belief, but using logic.
Among other things, we agreed that "God" was all there was, so whatever there is was made from "him". But,
He felt: God is everything.
I felt: God is a separate entity.
My best support is childbirth. One is made from one's mother and father. But, the 3 of you are still individual beings. I don't really remember what his supports were, lol.

Anyway,

Negative Free Expression vs. Social Responsibility

[sidebar] I have been updating my cam, and blog every 7 days. Incredible, considering I only typed 11 blog entries after having this CuteNews account for TWO years. Also, I am in love with Milla Jovovich. [/sidebar]

Now on to the topic...

I realize that when one Black person does something wrong, it is typically taken as a reflection of all Black people. However, there is a BIG difference between realizing that, and believing it is "ok".

Pillars of the community wish to extinguish entities that present or encourage negative behavior by Black people. For example: rap, hip hop, Flavor of Love, and I love New York. Why?
Because there are people who don't know the difference between television, and the flesh world we live in.

So, instead of attempting to make stupid people smarter, we're attempting to destroy anything that may trigger something negative in their backward mind.
This is not only ridiculous, but says "Yes, being prejudice is right. You keep doing that, and we'll try our best to accommodate your idiocy."

You wouldn't try to get hot stoves banned. You would teach your child a hot stove would burn it.
Hot stoves are beneficial. So are these programs/albums. They are entertaining, and produce commerce.

What are you saying to yourself, to the world, to children; When you are ashamed or embarrassed by their actions when your only connection is being "Black"?
You are saying that their skin color is responsible for their behavior. That, because they are Black, they are X, Y, or Z. And, since you are also Black, you are ashamed.

You're offended? So what? Americans are allowed to freely express themselves with few limitations.
The KKK are still allowed to rally, walk around in sheets, and produce hate media. Why shouldn't Flavor Flav or Lil' Boosie be allowed the same freedom?
Offended? Don't watch the show. Don't listen to the music. Go about your life.

My alternative? Educate people.
Teach them that people are individuals. Not beings prepackaged by color.
Teach them 98% of the time, the purpose of television is to entertain; Including the news (proven in the 2 weeks CNN/NBS covered Paris Hilton's arrest almost exclusively).


This isn't a rant. This is a logical argument. I have a problem with this, and I'm doing something about it. Simple people will say "actions speak louder than words". But, last time I checked, speaking is an action.

The appropriate time

I recently went to Olive Garden for a second date. The guy and I talked about a lot of things over dinner, including sex. He spent a good 30 to 45 minutes on how he didn't think you had to wait a certain time before becoming intimate. Even throwing in a story about how he and a woman, he slept with on the first night, were together for 10 months.
After dinner, he tried several times to have sex with me (surprise, surprise), in such a way I didn't demand to go home (yeah, he was good). However, we didn't do anything sexual.
The next day he called, telling me how he really could see himself in a serious relationship with me. And the night before had been a test (that phone call ended with a great degree of hostility on both ends).

Do you think one should be in a relationship for X amount of days, weeks, or months before becoming intimate?

Regardless of whether your body wants to do it sooner?

Lots of random things

So, you like it (layout)? No (kick)? Yes (hugs)?

My boyfriend of 2 weeks says he wants to go back to being friends for a minute. Due to the fact that we got in a committed relationship too soon (3rd date). You agree? Disagree?

I caught my roommates talking about me behind my back the other day. Evidently, "f*ck me, because I don't think of them when it comes to dishes and food". And "I don't count, because I act like I can't just be like everyone else".
Which is all crazy, because everyone buys their own food. No one has asked to use my dishes. I bought a toaster, coffee maker, and electric can opener that they all use. PLUS, the kitchen decorations.
And I guess the other part is because I have dreads and dress different... Ugh!

I really, really love My Chemical Romance. I listen to their albums, and a knot I didn't know was there loosens.

Is this a man or woman? I honestly want to know.

Double Gender Standards

We all know that a male and female can do the same thing/be in the same situation; Yet be perceived differently.

A single dad is respected, and applauded for "stepping up". While a single mom is frowned upon, and should have "kept her legs closed". A guy kissing another guy, or hugged up on another guy is automatically gay (aka gross). But, if it's girls, they could just be close friends. Men that often sleep around are pimps. However, a woman with multiple partners is a h*e. And so on...

There has been a obvious positive progression over time. And there are some people who don't even share society's current beliefs in this area. But, double gender standards are still very much present today.

Have they ever come to your advantage or disadvantage?

Any Attention is Good Attention?

I don't get it. Many people don't seem to care whether they're called a b*tch or a beauty; h*e or a housewife; idiot or idol; laughing with them or at them. As long as people are acknowledging their existence, they're happy.
I see why celebrities or wannabe-celebs think this way. The good/bad publicity they get often translates into dollars. But what on earth do people in different arenas get out it? What is so special about simply being "known"?
I'm not saying you should "go off" on anyone who says negative things about you. However, it's one thing to laugh it off or ignore it. And another to embrace it, and beg for more.

Currently: finishing a website for someone, working on a new layout/content for myself, listening to some Stephanie Mills, and drinking cranberry juice

I wrote this down awhile ago in one of my classes. Wilst my teacher scolded us for not knowing some material. Material she has yet to deliver without the constant aid of her dusty notes. Though she's been teaching the same humdrum eurocentric crap for the past 30 years. Anyway, history.

It's grossly generalized and often one-sided.The Romans were this. The Neoclassicists were this. The 70s were this. Surely, every Roman didn't place the family over the individual. Surely, every Neoclassicist didn't have confidence in man's ability to know all. But, that is what is remembered. That is the infomation given validity and value.

I cringe at the thought of what people in the Information Age will be remembered as. Self-deluded? Shallow? Greedy? Sleezy? And who future historians will crown pillars of our time. Paris Hilton? Oprah? George W. Bush? Flavor Flav?
Although, the specifics don't lend a much nicer view than the generalizations. How we gave a $2 million to fight AIDS and paid an actor $10 million to entertain. Paid a doctor $250,000 and a model $5 million. Pampered animals, while children starved.

Even as I attempt to walk this narrow line reaching beyond our box. I make my square habitat obvious, with the subconcious distinguishing of value in terms of money, lol.

What have you to say on the subject? How do you think future textbooks will compress our times?

Clean fresh doll

Hey! As you can see, I have a new layout up (for real this time lol). I was really just sick of looking at my old layout; Even though it was technically and graphically better.

This lay didn't involve much designing, but I did do a good deal of html/php/css/javascript coding. I finally got an email contact form. and I finally let go of the iframes. As all my lays do, this one features Meagan Good. I just can't let her go lol! There is navigation at the bottom and a "next" button.

I wanted something fairly different, but couldn't find the images. I had planned to use characters similar to this cartoon. But I only found two lol. I decided to give up after my search turned up this thing lol. Google failed me!

I almost named this blog "Up From Sloth". I wish I had interesting stories, fun times, and exciting people to type about; In explanation of my lack of blogging site updates. But I don't... I was just plain lazy! Lay in bed all day trying to get the remote to walk over by it self lazy! But no more! I'm going to be productive d*mn it! I'm going to blog every 7 days   

Currently: Spending time alone, so my thoughts are my own.

Net Drama over the top and out of control

I think there are 3 or 4 different guys and 2 girls that have "net beef" with me. I think because I've found that "new" people I talked to were actually the same jerks using a fake id. So who knows how many people it actually is.
The girls are nothing, they just send me negative emails all the time. Even though I stopped responding long ago. The guys are another story.

I have had two computers hacked and one was destroyed. Probably 3 IDs stolen and one ID locked.
They make IDs as close to mine as possible and impersonate me. In addition to spreading rumors and making fake webcam captures.
Random people email and IM me all the time thinking I'm a jerk/cam whore.

Evidently, I'm getting what I "deserve" for being on cam so much. And I must show, because I get so much attention and admin in so many rooms. I'm just being "stuck-up" towards them. :|

What the f***? I know it's not real life. But it's real people and my real face that's out there. and there's nothing I can do about it.

We all prejudge. It's an essential part of living a normal life. You don't have to touch every hot stove, to see it burns. Touch every fleece jacket, to see know it's soft. Try every chair, to see if it can be sat on. Ask every person in uniform, to see if she/he works there. We just assume that's the case.

But where the heck is the line? When should one ignore the lessons learned, and take a chance? and how harshly can we criticize others for drawing the line at "inappropriate" places?

Popular thought states "assumptions make an ass of everyone". Yet those same people criticize those who fail to acquire certain prejudices.

- One shouldn't assume males, with baggy pants and a white beater, are bad. BUT if he dogs you, you should have seen it coming "just look at him".
- One shouldn't assume a male, with an abusive father, will beat you. BUT if he does, you should have seen it coming "just look at his father".
- One shouldn't assume a person, with a history in drugs, will do drugs. BUT if he/she does, you should have seen it coming "just look at that history".
- One shouldn't assume a female, with friends who steal, is a thief. BUT if she steals, you should have seen it coming "just look at her friends".
- One shouldn't assume females, who wear scanty clothing, are whores. BUT if she sleeps around with your friends, you should have seen it coming "just look at the way she's dresses".
And so on...

Is it really rational to trust [X], when all or most [X] you've ever known, seen, or heard of was bad? Sure you haven't met all the [X] on earth. However, it's been proven that a microcosm mirrors what goes on in it's macrocosm.

Well, say you overthrow prejudice and believe there are some good [X] out there. What are the odds of you encountering one? Is it intelligent to take a risk with those odds?

Should you refrain from judging a book by its cover? Or is it the book's responsibility display whats on the inside?

We all know prejudice is stupid. That it is born of ignorance and re-enforced by fear. But are fear and ignorance crimes? Just how can we effectively change people when the real culprit is not some external difference or propaganda.

Sorry about my lack of blogging, heh. I've been rather busy lately. Also, my cPanelX has been being an ***, and I've just now given up on it. I now use Core FTP Lite and Mozilla Thunderbird.

Among my other labels, I've recently been given "suicidal". Which is completely false and foolish. The one thing we know of death is that no one returns from it. Now that's certainly not enough information to visit it. And, for some, it's sufficient information to avoid it at all costs.

I don't get this "hush, hush" thing with death. We! Who seldom watch a show/movie where no character dies. Who celebrate the death of those thought evil and those thought holy. Who are constantly switching the old for the new. Yet, can't seem to face the final trade.
We all die. Our bodies are decaying with each passing moment. Our minds wither as the years go by. It's happened for ages, but we never take it any easier. And perhaps take it harder these days.
Why? and Is there any immortal part of us?

I do wonder...

I got the following email the other day:

Well after reading that I'm sure you can see the type of person she is. But I'll go on typing anyway.

I just happened to stumble upon her hideous website and read the blog. Which was basically a paragraph of the things idiots tell themselves to feel better about stealing other people's ideas.

I typed nothing about any "rora" (the chick she stole from).
My comment just happened to come after her's.

I have no reason to lie or kiss a random person's ass.

Why make anyone be able to comment, if you start crying everytime someone speaks a little truth?

My English teacher is an idiot. I hope to never cross paths with him again after this semester is over. And plan to have as little contact as possible with him during it. I hope this headache he caused and my roommate leave soon.

I got an 83% on a test in his class today, should have gotten at least an A. I began to question him about his "answers", and the immaturity that bubbled from his chapped lips explained that any further discourse would prove futile.

My classmates are blind and look to this charlatan for truths. While scorning mine which don't come from front of a blackboard.
